Kang Dong-Wan
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to evaluate occlusal characteristics of the patients with TMJ locking.
The data was collected from the patients with TM disorder. The age was from under 20 to over 60 years old(11 men and 39 women with TMJ locking).
The occlusal characteristics of the patients were analyzed by the diagnostic chart and panoramic X-ray view, according to age and sex.
@The results were as follows:
@EN 1. Concerning the distribution of the subjects, women were more than men (3.5:1), and the 20-29 age group was the most subject(40%).
2. With respect to the amount of maximum mouth opening, the highest frequency was in 26-30mm group, next, 31-35mm, 21-25mm, and 36-40mm group.
3. In the patterns of lateral guided occlusion of the subjects with posterior natural dentition, the bilateral group function was 58% of the subjects.
4. In the types of occlusal factors contributing to TMJ locking, the balancing interference was the highest factor in 20-29 age group.
